Are you thinking of going to St. Maarten soon? Well, you’ve come to the right place! I will give you all the deets on what to do if you spend a quick weekend there! I decided to visit St. Maarten/St. Martin at the last minute because I found a super cheap flight deal and let’s face it, which travel enthusiast can resist that?

1. VISIT MAHO BEACH

St. Maarten’s Maho Beach is most famously known as the place where airplanes fly over the beach at a ridiculously low level, and tourists must get their Instagram pictures. So the first thing I’ll mention in this blog post is that this is something you must do to experience it.

*Tip* Google the flight times for planes coming in that day and wait for them to arrive. The smaller jets come in quite frequently, but the major airlines such as Delta, Jet Blue, etc., only come in once maybe twice for the day, and usually before 3 p.m., this is what a local mentioned to me. So get there nice and early and get ready for that excellent shot!

2. VISIT SUNSET BAR & GRILL

There is a restaurant on Maho Beach called Sunset Bar and Grill that is the perfect place to watch planes arriving and departing over a tasty Caribbean meal.

3. RENT A CAR

Renting a car was one of our best choices on this trip. Not only is it affordable, but it’s also pretty easy to get around the island since it’s so small. You’ll have so much more freedom and time to explore on your own.

4. VISIT THE FRENCH SIDE (ST. MARTIN)

Since the island is relatively small, you can explore both the Dutch side and the French side.

We visited a quaint French bakery directly across from the ferry that had the BEST croissants! It brought back memories of when I visited France a few years ago.

5. TAKE THE FERRY TO ANGUILLA OR ST. BARTHS

If you have more time, you can take the boat to Anguilla or St. Barths! These islands are only a short distance from St. Martin and a great way to explore more than one island – if time permits.

6. CHECK OUT THE SCENERY – VIEWPOINT

We wanted to get a beautiful scenic shot of St. Martin, so we asked locals how to get to the highest viewpoint. I’m still not sure if we went where they told us where to go LOL, but we got to a top view and got a nice shot right before our flight back to the States.

Have you been to St. Martin? Let me know in the comments below!

Thanks for stopping by!

xoxo Tia!
