Happy Wednesday beautiful people!

A place that you must must visit in Jamaica, when this pandemic is over – is the Blue Lagoon!! This hidden gem is magical✨ and very few people venture to this part of the island as most don’t know about it! Depending on how the sun hits the water, it looks as if it changes colors throughout the day. Sometimes it can look like a turquoise blue and at other times it can look like a sapphire blue or anywhere in between. And don’t get me started on all the lush greenery in sight 😍A picturesque tropical paradise!

Villas

How to get there:

Located in the eastern part of Jamaica, The Blue Lagoon is in the town of Port Antonio.

  • If you are flying into Kingston, the distance to the Blue Lagoon is around 2 hours and 15 minutes.
  • If you are flying into Montego Bay the distance is nearly 4 hours.
  • From Ocho Rios the distance is around 2 hours and 30 minutes.
  • From Negril the distance is around 5 hours.

On this trip to Jamaica my family and I flew into Montego Bay like we always do and stayed 2 nights in the area before going to St. Elizabeth to see my grandmother and the rest of my family. After staying in the country for about 5 days, my cousin from Kingston came and got us and we stayed with her for a night before driving from Kingston to the Blue Lagoon.

How much does it cost:

There is no entry fee to visit this landmark.

Bamboo Rafts
Boats

What to do:

You can do a short bamboo raft tour for around $30 (all prices subject to change) – which I recommend just for the experience! Only 3 people can go on the bamboo at a time – 2 sitting down and the 1 person rowing. You can also rent kayaks and boats for around $20 on the premise and also go swimming. We did everything! Which reminds me, when you’re swimming the water can be freezing cold in certain spots and then warm in other spots, its weird but that’s because this is Jamaica’s largest underground spring fed lagoon, so there’s a mixture of both fresh water and salt water. Rumor has it that the Blue Lagoon is bottomless and that there’s a dragon that lives there, but it’s actually 180-200 ft. deep and no dragon resides there, so don’t worry 😊

Swinging on Monkey Island

There’s also an area they call the Fountain of Youth where I dipped myself in, at least 3 times 😌#ForeverYoung
